Education within the UK
The education system within the UK is divided into four parts: primary education, secondary education, further education and higher education.
Primary Education: this begins from the age of 5 years old up until age 11. In Year 6, students take SATS at the end of their year. This measures the children’s educational achievements throughout their time in Primary School.

Secondary Education: students from age 11 to 16 will enter secondary school. They will move forward towards taking their GCSE’s – set of exams to test your knowledge. When it comes to GCSE’s, there are core subjects, such as English, Maths and Sciences (double or triple). Students are then able to select additional 4/5 subjects that they wish to do so and will help later on when it comes to their further education.

Further Education: when the student has finished their secondary education, they have the option to either further extend their education and take on A-Levels, BTEC’s or other equivalent options that would enable them to receive a diploma. This is needed for those students who are planning to go onto higher education. They must complete their further education.

Higher Education: most students will enter this education sector once they have completed their further education. This will enable them to go to universities of their choice and be able to further expand their knowledge and skills, which will be essential for the career that they would like to pursue in.
